History Of The Department
Initially, the Extension wing was established in the year 1974 at Nagpur Veterinary College, Nagpur with the view to impart the Extension trainings to the undergraduate to serve in the State Animal Husbandry Department in the field of Veterinary Extension and undertake massive Extension Educational work. Subsequently, the full fledged Veterinary Extension Department was established at Nagpur Veterinary College, Nagpur with implementation of VCI Education regulation in 1997. The more impetus of Teaching, Research & Extension work was given after the establishment of University in 2000 and formation of new Statute w.e.f. 2002

Vision / Mission of the Department
OBJECTIVES
- To impart education to Undergraduate & Post graduate students through teaching of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension.
- To carry out the field problem- based Post-graduate (MVSc) research in Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension.
- To provide need based and demand driven livestock and animal husbandry information through print and electronic media to the farmers.
- To organize and conduct the various extension educational activities for the farmers e.g. short term training, demonstration, group discussion, exposure visit, exhibition and animal health camps.
- Transfer of Technology (ToT) developed by the institute and university, MAFSU Nagpur

- Adopted Village Program for the overall development of village through transfer of animal husbandry technology, guidance, motivation and skill development program
- Answers to the farmers queries through Kisan Call Centre Programme
- Organization of Animal Health Camps, Group Discussion and Campaign
- Organization of Demonstrations and Exposure Visit for the livestock farmers
- Organization of TV programmes for recording of animal husbandry success stories
- Organization of Animal Science Exhibition for farmer awareness
- Development of Audio-visual aids and farm literature for the farmers
- Organization of short term training programmes for farmers, unemployed youths and women Self-Help Groups for self-employment for the duration of 5 Days :
